For local Press journalists across the North (mainly), the Christmas break has involved putting on wellies and speaking to people who had just watched their homes wrecked by flood water.

Many titles provided a vital service online, mixing latest updates with information in real-time to help people who were living through a real-world nightmare.

Wednesday brought with it the arrival of Storm Frank, which saw newspaper front pages further south covering both flooding and the impact of strong winds. More weekly papers published for the first time since the Boxing Day floods

The impact of Storm Frank combined with the final weeklies of the week publishing for the first time since their flooding resulted in a strong crop of weather-related front pages.
