When a picture tells a thousand words (and makes a great front page)

The front page of last Thursday's Northen Echo. A dramatic picture which leapt off the news stands. But it got me thinking - why such a big byline for a writer, and such a small one for the photographer when it's clearly the photo which sells the paper?

  1. The masthead is also struggling to make an impact, sandwiched between the headline and the Footloose Boost.
    But, yes, it’s the picture that people will see more than anything
